Dr. Scott Lear
ProfessorAbout
Dr. Scott Lear is a Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University and the inaugural Pfizer/Heart and Stroke Foundation Chair in Cardiovascular Prevention Research at St. Paul’s Hospital. Dr. Lear’s research focuses on how health behaviours relate to the prevention of heart and other diseases, as well as their role in treating disease. This includes investigations into the role of physical activity in disease prevention, why some people are active and others are not, and the use of technology to support health behaviours. With this information, Dr. Lear’s research informs the development and evaluation of policies, programs and interventions, such as how the built environment influences health and how technology can be used to support health behaviours and patients with disease. He writes a bi-weekly blog (Become Your Healthiest You) and co-hosts the How to Health podcast to share his expertise and patient experience regarding healthy living.
