iFolder
What is iFolder?
iFolder is a network synchronization tool.
Synchronization
iFolder is a real time copy tool that synchronizes all your data from “iFolders” on your laptop to the JHRC. Every time your laptop is connected to the internet either at work, home or traveling the data is automatically synchronized back to the JHRC. If your laptop is lost, damaged, or stolen this iFolder data can be accessed over the web from any browser. Note: This is a synchronization tool, so if you delete a file on your laptop the file will be deleted from the JHRC as well.
File Sharing
iFolder is a solution that allows people to easily share folders of files of any type with other users whether they use the same or different operating systems. Thus, Linux, Windows and Macintosh users can all use iFolder and share folders. The JHRC is running iFolder in a server environment, allowing for one internet access point from anywhere and utilizing backup. File sharing does come at a price however as other users can share files with you, thus encrouching on your quota of ifolder storage space.
Please request an iFolder account before downloading and installing an iFolder client. Accounts and Storage is limited to all full time members of the JHRC.
- iFolder account quotas are currently limited to 10Gbytes of storage.
- iFolder is where you should be storing all your current work and projects for laptop/mobile users.
- iFolder is not intended for storing large amount of imaging data.
- iFolder is where you should be storing all your current work and
- Any older, non-current data should be stored on your ‘Home’ volume
- You will be able to access data from the home volume over the internet via NetStorage.
Web Access
If you did not bring your laptop with or worse, if it was lost, damaged or stolen, you can access your files stored in ifolder via the web here.
