Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)
Our Tecnai 12 TEM from FEI Inc. is an advanced transmission electron microscope. It:
- Has an accelerating voltages from 20-120kV that allows viewing of specimen of various thickness and sensitivity to electron beam
- Can magnify at a wide range from 20 X to 370,000 X
- Has a super fine line resolution of 3.4 Angstroms and a point resolution of 4.09 Angstroms
- Has camera set up for not just digital imaging with 1k x 1k pixels recording but also conventional 3X4 inch plate negatives
- Is equipped for electron tomography (ET) which is a widely recognized method for high resolution 3-D visualization. Holographic images of various sub-cellular structures are gathered by tiling the sample along a single axis over a large angular range ( ± 70) with small angular tilt increments. A wide variety of samples including cell cultures and tissue biopsies can be examined. Precise immuno antigen/antibody interaction, along with innovative investigation of dynamic interactions of proteins and macromolecular complexes are made possible, hence increasing the potential in dry discovery and further biopharmaceutical applications
